Deleting a portfolio is a big decision, especially when it contains months or years of transactions, categorisations and forecasts. You might be clearing out a test portfolio, replacing an old plan, or simply choosing the wrong one by mistake.

CLARIFYProperty now gives you a chance to change your mind. When you delete a portfolio, it is hidden from normal use and kept for 30 days before permanent deletion. Its accounts, transactions, categorisations, schedules and scenarios are retained during that time, ready to return if you restore it.

This builds on the extra confirmation introduced for portfolio deletion. There is now a recovery window as well as protection against an accidental click.

To find a portfolio you have deleted, choose Show deleted portfolios on the portfolios page. Each deleted portfolio shows when it was deleted and how many days remain before permanent deletion. Choose Restore and confirm to bring it back into use with its existing data.

That means you can recover a portfolio without rebuilding its accounts, importing its transactions again or recreating your forecasts. The recovery window is temporary, though: restore anything you want to keep before the 30 days are up.

If you are sure a portfolio is no longer needed, you can choose Permanently delete from the same list without waiting for the recovery period to end. The confirmation explains what will be removed and asks you to type the portfolio’s title, followed by a short countdown before you can proceed. Once permanent deletion begins, the portfolio can no longer be restored. If you want a copy of its data, export it before deleting it; restore it first if it is already in the deleted list.

One practical detail matters if your plan limits the number of portfolios: a deleted portfolio still uses a portfolio slot during the recovery period. The slot becomes available when permanent deletion begins. Keeping a portfolio available to restore also means keeping its place in your plan.

For a property or room you have finished using, archiving remains the way to retain its history within an ongoing portfolio. Portfolio deletion is for removing the whole portfolio, with a temporary opportunity to reverse that decision.
